محوطۀ زیویه در مقام یکی از محوطههای کلیدی عصر آهن شمالغرب ایران (مربوط به دورۀ پادشاهی ماناها-مادها) با تنوعی از اشیای موزهای شهرتی جهانی و فهرست بلندبالایی از انتشارات دارد. بخش عمدۀ این فهرست را تکنگاریهایی تشکیل میدهند که براساس یک یا چند شئ محدود از یک مجموعه دور از بافت نوشته شده است. مقالاتی که بهصورت جامع یافتههای «منسوب به زیویه» و «حاصل از کاوش علمی» را با هم دربرگیرند، کمشمارند؛ با اینحال مقالات زیادی درمورد یافتههای زیویه منتشر شده است، اما هنوز گروههایی از مواد فرهنگی آن کمشناخته باقیماندهاند و بهقدر کفایت به آنها پرداخته نشده است، از آنجمله میتوان به «سرتیرهای استخوانی زیویه» اشاره کرد که پارهای از آنها از کاوشهای علمی و بخشی از آنها از طریق مجموعههای خصوصی و عتیقهجویان راه خود را به موزههای جهان باز کرده است. این موزهها عبارتنداز: متروپولیتن، لوور، موزه ملی ایران و موزۀ باستانشناسی سنندج. در این نوشتار به معرفی و دستهبندی 51 عدد از این سرتیرها پرداخته میشود. تعدادی از این سرتیرها پیشتر بهعنوان عاج ثبت شده بودند. پژوهش کنونی نشانداد که جنس همۀ آنها استخوان است. گرچه بهدلیل فعالیتهایی که روی آنها انجام شده بود، تشخیص نوع استخوان در اکثر آنها ممکن نشد. از نکات دیگر بررسی شده در پژوهش حاضر، این است که با توجه به جنس استخوانی سرتیرها، آیا از آنها برای جنگ استفاده شدهاند یا برای پرستیژ و حضور نمادین در مراسمهای تشریفاتی؟ نمونههای آزمایششده از سایر محوطهها نشانداده است که استخوان بهقدر کافی سخت هست که در صورت پرتاب با کمان بتواند به بدن شکار یا انسان نفوذ کند و امروزه کاربردی بودن آنها امری مسجل است و هنوز درمیان برخی قبایل از آنها استفاده میشود.
