مطالعۀ استقرارهای ساسانی در شمال عراق (اقلیم کردستان)، برپایۀ کشفیات باستان‌شناختی

در دو دهۀ اخیر در نتیجۀ افزایش چشمگیر فعالیت‌های میدانی باستان‌شناسی در اقلیم کردستان عراق، محوطه‌ها و آثار مهمی از دورۀ ساسانی کشف شده است. باوجود آن‌که در دورۀ ساسانی، منطقۀ شمال عراق بخشی از قلمرو این شاهنشاهی به‌شمار می‌رفت، اما بسیاری از ویژگی‌های باستان‌شناختی این منطقه در دورۀ ساسانی، در محافل باستان‌شناسی داخل ایران ناشناخته مانده است. در این پژوهش که به روش کتابخانه‌ای انجام شده است، تعداد 42 محوطۀ باستانی یا اثر تاریخی مربوط به دورۀ ساسانی که عمدتاً در سالیان اخیر در کردستان عراق شناسایی شده‌اند، مورد بررسی قرار گرفته است. هدف از این پژوهش دستیابی به پاسخی برای برخی پرسش‌های مطرح شده دربارۀ موقعیت مکانی استقرارهای ساسانی منطقه و عوامل جغرافیایی و محیطی مؤثر بر شکل‌گیری آن‌هاست. آثار ساسانی کردستان عراق شامل انواع محوطه‌های استقراری، بناهای یادمانی، مجموعه‌های حکومتی، استحکامات، کانال‌های آبرسانی، گورستان‌ها و مراکز بومی تولید منسوجات و سفال هستند. نتیجۀ این پژوهش نشان می‌دهند که استقرارهای ساسانی اقلیم کردستان عمدتاً در سه ناحیه متمرکز هستند: 1. دشت شهرزور و ناحیۀ اطراف دریاچۀ دوکان، 2. دشت اربیل، 3. منطقۀ گرمیان. این مناطق که به‌شکل دشت‌های باز و دره‌های وسیع میان‌کوهی در حاشیۀ رودها هستند، به‌دلیل برخورداری از ویژگی‌هایی چون ارتفاع مناسب، منابع آبی سرشار، خاک حاصل‌خیز و قرارگرفتن بر سر مسیرهای مهم ارتباطی، در دورۀ ساسانی اهمیت داشته و به‌همین‌دلیل محل شکل‌گیری و تمرکز بیشترِ استقرارهای این دوره به‌شمار می‌روند.
