 سکه‌های حاکمان محلی پارس (فرترکه‌ها) از مهم‌ترین اسناد باستان‌شناختی برای بازسازی اوضاع سیاسی، مذهبی و فرهنگی ایالت پارس در دورۀ سلوکی به‌شمار می‌آیند. این مسکوکات افزون بر ارزش اقتصادی، حاوی عناصر تصویری و نمادینی هستند که بازتاب‌دهندۀ تداوم سنت‌های هخامنشی و شکل‌گیری هویت سیاسی حاکمان محلی در این دوره‌اند. یکی از شاخص‌ترین عناصر تصویری بر این سکه‌ها، نقش بنایی است که در پشت برخی از آن‌ها مشاهده می‌شود و از دیرباز توجه پژوهشگران را به خود جلب کرده است. باوجود مطالعات انجام‌شده، ماهیت معماری و کارکرد این سازه هم‌چنان از مسائل بحث‌برانگیز در مطالعات سکه‌شناسی و باستان‌شناسی ایران به‌شمار می‌رود. پژوهش حاضر با هدف بررسی و تبیین هویت معماری و کارکرد بنای نقش‌شده بر سکه‌های گروه نخست و دوم شاهان محلی پارس انجام شده است. در این‌راستا تلاش شده است تا با معرفی این گروه از سکه‌ها و تحلیل ویژگی‌های تصویری آن‌ها، ابهامات موجود دربارۀ ماهیت این سازه تا حد امکان روشن شود. پرسش اصلی پژوهش آن است که، سازۀ نقش‌شده بر سکه‌های فرترکه‌ها چه نوع بنایی را بازنمایی می‌کند و تا چه اندازه می‌توان آن را با نمونه‌های شناخته‌شدۀ معماری آئینی ایران باستان مقایسه و تفسیر کرد؟ روش پژوهش توصیفی-تحلیلی و مبتنی‌بر رویکرد تطبیقی است. داده‌های مورداستفاده ازطریق مطالعات موزه‌ای بر مجموعه سکه‌های موجود در موزۀ بانک سپه و موزۀ تماشاگه پول، همراه با بررسی منابع کتابخانه‌ای و پژوهش‌های پیشین گردآوری شده است؛ سپس این داده‌ها با نمونه‌های معماری شناخته‌شده از دورۀ هخامنشی و پساهخامنشی مورد مقایسه و تحلیل قرار گرفته‌اند. نتایج پژوهش نشان می‌دهد که بنای تصویرشده بر سکه‌های فرترکه‌ها دارای ماهیتی آئینی و مذهبی است و ازنظر برخی ویژگی‌های ساختاری و نمادین با بنای کعبۀ زرتشت در نقش‌رستم قابل مقایسه است؛ هم‌چنین بررسی سکه‌ها نشان می‌دهد که در گذر زمان و درپی تغییرات فنی در شیوۀ ضرب، کیفیت هنری و دقت در نمایش جزئیات معماری این نقش کاهش یافته است. این یافته‌ها نشان می‌دهد که نقش این بنا نه‌تنها بازتاب‌دهندۀ سنت‌های معماری و مذهبی ایران باستان است، بلکه می‌تواند نشانه‌ای از تداوم مشروعیت دینی و سیاسی حاکمان محلی پارس در دورۀ پساهخامنشی نیز تلقی شود.
