زاگرسمرکزی بهعنوان یکی از مهمترین مناطق جغرافیایی در باستانشناسی ایران، سالهاست که مورد توجه باستانشناسان ایرانی و غیر ایرانی قرار گرفته است.یکی از آثار تاریخ زاگرسمرکزی که در آیندۀ نزدیک در زمرۀ میراثفرهنگی جهانی قرار خواهد گرفت، مجموعۀ تاقبستان کرمانشاه است. سالها از بررسیها و کاوشها در محدودۀ آثار جهانی تاقبستان کرمانشاه میگذرد و در نگاه باستانشناسان و پژوهشگران، از این مجموعه بهعنوان مجموعهای تاریخی یاد میشود؛ مجموعهایکه در برگیرندۀ آثاری از ادوار اشکانی و ساسانی است و اهمیت آن، چنان است که در سالهای اخیر برای قرارگیری در فهرست میراث جهانی یونسکو مورد توجه قرار گرفته است. با توجه به اهمیّت این مجموعه، در سالیان گذشته، بررسیها و کاوشهای فراوانی در محدودۀ این آثار انجام شده است که به بهترشدن درک ما از جایگاه این محوطۀ تاریخی و باستانی، کمک شایانی کرده است. با وجود تمام پژوهشهای صورتگرفته در محدودۀ این مجموعه که در سالیان متمادی، قبل و بعد از پیروزی انقلاباسلامی صورتپذیرفته، وجود محوطهای پیشازتاریخی، متأسفانه نوعی سطحینگری در پژوهشهای پیشین را نمایان میکند. در این مجال به معرفی محوطۀ پارک غربیِ تاقبستان، بهعنوان یکی از قدیمترین بقایای فرهنگی همجوار مجموعۀ تاریخی تاقبستان خواهیم پرداخت و تلاش خواهیم کرد تا با استفاده از مطالعۀ یافتههای سطحی این محوطه، گاهنگاری نسبی براساس یافتهها ارائه دهیم.
