Long hisory and multiplicity of the Iranian-Islamic art and civilization left us a gigantic heritage from the pas for the present and future generations of concerning countries as well as the whole world. This heritage includes rock reliefs, metal and ceramic objects, manuscripts and miniatures, woodworks, textiles, and architectural ornaments. After centuries or millennia, we have been handed over these works which might have been exposed to deterioration and sructural delicacies that need lots of serious attention through conservation and preservation. Temperature, humidity, lighting, pollutants, pess, human interventions via war or ignorance, vandalism as well as natural disasers are among factors that have always threatened hisorical works.

Research Center for Conservation of Cultural Relics (RCCCR): From Past to Today

How were conservation and restoration of Iranian cultural propertied in the past? More significantly, how have conservation and restoration measures evolved and what objectives are sought? Are their essential roots in the same house grounds which evolved in other parts of the world, especially Europe and more especially Italy? Although origins of thoughts on beauty, art, heritage and even restoration in their general denotations accessible in eastern culture and literature, it is vivid that restoration and conservation as they are currently addressed are derived from viewpoints and thoughts of those who live abroad. In western countries, restoration is mixed with aesthetics, philosophy and art. Later on, the term conservation with the new knowledge, as its basis, emerged to deal with this subject.

It provides a perfect opportunity to a specialized English-language devoted to publication of original & review contributions concerning science and technology for conservation and resoration of cultural heritage.
