The study of the signs and symbols and the words on the coins contribute to recognition the customs, scripts and language, art, culture, civilization, the economic and social conditions of each region. According to the ancient Khwarezmian numismatic, the coins are classified based on the inscription of the tail side of the coins. Moreover, they can be divided into four main groups: The first group is a copy of Greek coins; the second group is a combination of Greek and Khwarezmi emblems; the third and fourth groups merely have Khwarezmi inscription characters. The tail side of the coins includes the names and titles of the kings of Khwarezm which are expressed in two forms, including the MLK’ and MR’Y MLK’. In some coins, the king’s name was firstly printed and then agnomen MLK’ was mentioned. In other coins, the agnomen MR’Y MLK’ was firstly mentioned and then the name of the ruler was written. Both of them mean “King of the king” or “theocrat” and which was replaced word for king of Khwarezm. This library study investigated the title of Khwarezmi kings on ancient Khwarezm coins.
